Lisa-Edwards

On a personal level, I am married to my best friend. We met at school, began dating at 14, and married at 21, so he knows me pretty well!  We have three grown-up children and two dogs and have always lived in the most easterly part of England, on the borders of Suffolk and Norfolk.

Fun for me is taking long walks in the countryside with my two dogs and spending time with my family. I have always loved music, and as well as playing the electronic organ, I also sing soprano in a local all-ladies choir.   I love self-development, so my favourite books tend to be based around this, but I do enjoy binge-watching a good drama on Netflix.

Background:

I started my journey in the healthcare sector in 1985 when I trained to be a registered nurse. Through the years, I gradually moved into more leadership roles, moving up the ladder to director-level roles.

Having navigated the intricacies of the healthcare industry for over 30 years, I understand the multifaceted challenges that leaders face in this dynamic field. My experience spans acute, community and primary care settings within the private and public sectors. The last 20 of these, including during the COVID-19 pandemic, were at a senior level, managing large budgets, multi-disciplinary teams and service development, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the unique demands and opportunities within the healthcare landscape.

During my long career, I have had periods of self-doubt and feelings of not being good enough. I have listened far too much to other people’s opinions and ignored what I really wanted or believed. I have had times when I both loved and hated my job. I have experienced good and bad leadership and personal burnout.  Therefore, I understand the importance of seeking support and guidance when needed and prioritising self-development.

Passion for Leadership Development:

My passion lies in helping leaders grow and become the person they want to be.  To identify what they really want and remove any negative thoughts and feelings that are getting in their way. I strongly believe in the importance of good leadership and its direct impact on the performance of an organisation and its staff. I believe effective leadership is crucial for personal career growth and vital for fostering positive change and innovation in the healthcare sector.

I offer personalised coaching and mentoring to individuals or teams to help them identify and utilise their strengths, overcome any challenges they may face, and lead with resilience and purpose. My commitment is to prevent people from experiencing demotivation and burnout in their work by helping them either rediscover the joy in their current job or find a new one they will enjoy. Life is too short to do something you do not love. I am dedicated to helping people develop their own voice and inner strength so that external forces and opinions do not unduly influence them.
